Croix-Rousse & Traboules Tour
Most people visit Lyon and never find the traboules. They’re not on the main tourist maps and you can walk right past the entrances without knowing they’re there. On this tour, we go through them together.
About This Tour
I’ve lived in Lyon for over 10 years. I still love showing people the traboules.
We start at Croix-Rousse and enter the Traboule des Voraces, one of the most impressive passageways in the city. From there we make our way downhill through the neighborhood where Lyon’s silk weavers, the Canuts, lived and worked. I’ll tell you their story as we walk. It’s a good one.
We make a short detour to the Amphithéâtre des Trois Gaules, a Roman amphitheater that most tourists never see. It’s easy to miss and worth knowing about.
We finish at Hôtel de Ville. By then you’ll have a completely different sense of the city.
This is a private tour. Just your group and me. No script, no headset, no rush. If you have questions, ask them. If you want to stop somewhere, we stop.
This tour works best if you:
- Want to go beyond the main squares and tourist spots
- Are curious about the real history behind the city
- Prefer conversation over a lecture
- Want someone who actually lives here to show you around
